Pelaihari, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Tanah Laut district nowadays turns organic waste in the final waste processing site (TPA) Bakunci into fertilizer using a machine.


"The organic waste processing machine in the Bakunci landfill starts operational by early 2017," said Head of Tanah Laut Urban Planning and Environment Riyadi in Pelaihari Tuesday.

According to him, the presence of the processing machine is very helpful, because organic waste so far can only be processed manually. 

"The organic waste processing machine is able to process organic waste from Market Pelaihari seven tons or more in one day," he explained.

The organic waste processing engine not only help to produce organic fertilizer, it is believed to contribute to the increased value of Adipura for Tanah Laut. Based on the team's first assessment, said Riyadi, TPA Bakunci value is above a safe point, which is above 75 points.

In addition to organic waste management, said Riyadi, TPA Bakunci also sorting plastic waste that can be used for recycling. After cleaning it then collected and sold to traders who use recycled plastic.

"We expect organic waste processing engine can provide a positive impact on environmental hygiene and provide benefits to the Tanah Laut," he said.
