The MPC Mantimin football school (SSB) from Balangan District will represent South Kalimantan to the national football tournamen in Jakarta after winning the Indonesia's 2024 Grassroot Championship (IGC) U-11 for South Kalimantan Region or “Wali Kota Cup” in Banjarbaru, Sunday.
“Alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah) this is a maximum result that we must be very grateful, thanks to the hard work of children in the field. We the officials are also very moved,” said Chairman of SSB MPC Mantimin Iyan HS in Balangan, Tuesday.
Iyan said from the preliminary to the final round, the children played optimally, without burden, and it was proven that in the final they succeeded in defeating the strong SSB in the province.
With this success of SSB MPC Mantimin to the national level to represent South Kalimantan, Iyan expected regional or provincial government to provide support.
Banjarbaru City Government Legal and Political Expert Staff Marhain Rahman hopes this tournament to have a good impression and became valuable experience. Winning or losing is not the most important thing but the growing spirit of sportmanship is the main goal of this tournament.
Marhain reminded that competition only happened on the field, with sportmanship matches, emotions not to be carried outside the arena, so that every match can have the quality.
“I congratulate the winners, treat victory humbly and accept defeat with grace and don't dirty this tournament with disgraceful attitudes such as anarchy, mocking each other and throwing things at each other,” he said.
At the preliminary round, SSB MPC Mantimin beat SBM club with a score of 3-0 and won 6-0 over Akademi Utama Raya, and in eight round won 4-1 over Banjarbaru FC Family.
Then in the semifinals they won 2-0 over SSB Laskar Bersujud Raga Negeri and in the final round won 3-1 over atas Barito Putera Sport School (SOBP).
The tournament was held in 28 provinces across Indonesia, one of which was in Banjarbaru City. The aim is to scout the young talents in football in the categories of 11 year old (22 teams), and 12 year old (19 teams).
SSB MPC Mantimin will represent South Kalimantan to play at the national level which will be held in Jakarta from 25 to 27 October 2024. The winning team will continue to represent Indonesia in Thailand.
