Kotabaru, South Kalimantan 9/12 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Minimum Wage (UMK) in Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan, in 2017 period rises by Rp181.500 or about 8.25 per cent from Rp2.2 million to Rp2.381.500 per month.


Kotabaru Wage Council Secretary Lima Sinaga said on Thursday (8/12) the increase is calculated based on inflation rate and the national economy growth as the Government Regulation (PP) No.78/2015 regulates on Equal Remuneration.

"PP.78/2015 applied this year. In 2015, the establishment of UMK refers to the basic cost living(KHL) survey in the respective area," he said.

The increase of 8.25 per cent, said Sinaga, derived from the inflation rate from the September 2016 data by 3.07 percent. Then combined with economic growth figures refer to Gross Domestic Income (PDRB) data in the second quarter of 2016 amounted to 5.18 percent.

Since published until now, PP.78/2015 is still gets resistance from the workers, one of them for ignoring the KHL.

However, the Kotabaru Wages Council survey showed that the UMK 2017 is still higher than the KHL which is in the range of Rp2.1 million per month.

With the increase, then Kotabaru UMK to be the highest compared to other areas in South Kalimantan. But the magnitude of UMK or MSE 2017 is not a satisfactory among workers in the oil palm plantation.

According to the Chairman of the Minamas Plantation Federation of Trade Unions Rutqi, KHL survey conducted by Kotabaru Wage Council generated Rp2.1 million figure includes only 60 variables. While the survey version of the union covering 80 variables to the figures obtained Rp2.4 million.
