President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) launched the construction of Bina Bangsa School in the development zone of the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara, East Kalimantan, on Wednesday.

"This morning, we initiated the development of Bina Bangsa School Nusantara, an international school that adopts the Cambridge curriculum," he remarked during the school's groundbreaking ceremony that was live streamed by his office.

Jokowi revealed that seven schools are under construction in Nusantara City.

He explained that the adoption of the Cambridge curriculum in Bina Bangsa School would enhance the quality of education in Indonesia's future capital city.

The school will be equipped with a range of modern facilities and apply the concept of a smart school that emphasizes interactive and innovative methods of learning.

Jokowi expressed his belief that such learning methods could produce creative and collaborative students who are open to technology and think critically.

He pointed out that the development of Bina Bangsa School in Nusantara demonstrates the government's steadfast commitment to providing high-quality supporting infrastructure in the city.

Jokowi also expressed hope that the international school would bring global-level education to Nusantara and offer high-quality education services to the city's residents, who come from different regions and backgrounds.

He also encouraged the management of the school to introduce Indonesian local wisdom and cultural wealth to its future pupils.

"I would like to ask Bina Bangsa School to take part in introducing the values of Indonesian local wisdom to the students, teaching them about respect toward cultural diversity, and solidifying brotherhood and unity," he concluded.
