Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah echoed the government's commitment to rejecting cheap wages and unilateral layoffs as called for by workers and laborers during the commemoration of International Labor Day.
"I think our commitment from the Ministry of Manpower, the government's commitment, is the same as the commitment of our fellow workers or laborers. We reject cheap wages. We also reject unilateral layoffs," she remarked after commemorating Labor Day (May Day) 2024 in Jakarta, Wednesday.
In an effort to support the realization of the welfare of workers and laborers, the ministry launched the Decree of the Minister of Manpower (Kepmenaker) Number 76 of 2024 concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of Pancasila (Five Principles) Industrial Relations.
The aim of the guidelines is to provide reinforcement and understanding of the values of Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution in the business world.
It is also to create business continuity and harmonious work relations as well as to increase knowledge of Pancasila industrial relations for business actors in preparation for the world of work.
There are six principles in its implementation, including prioritizing the common interests of entrepreneurs, workers or laborers, the community, and the government.
The next principle is cooperation between workers and entrepreneurs, as partners who need each other, based on a functional relationship and division of tasks.
It encompasses the principles of family philosophy, creating business in calm and working in peace, as well as increasing welfare.
Apart from that, it adheres to the principles of kinship and mutual cooperation that are a reflection of the Indonesian nation.
Fauziyah elaborated that in the Pancasila industrial relations, the principle of deliberation to reach a consensus is needed that prioritizes politeness, both in speech and actions.
"We ask all trade unions and company management to follow the guidelines for implementing the Pancasila industrial relations," she stated.
