PT PLN (Persero) South and Central Kalimantan Main Distribution Unit supported elektrification of the Central Kalimantan government's shrimp pond area (Shrimp Estate) in Sei Raja Village, Sukamara District.
The presence of electricity with a power of 1,385,000 Volt Ampere (VA) in the provincial government's strategic project in a coastal area covering 40.17 hectares was a concrete manifestation of PLN's suppport in improving "Electrifying Marine" ecosystem in Indonesia, especially in Kalimantan.
General Manager of PT PLN (Persero) for South and Central Kalimantan Muhammad Joharifin in Banjarbaru, Wednesday, said that Electrifying Marine program is a form of PLN's commitment to help the community in increasing fisheries productivity at a low cost and efficiently in time.
"This program is very beneficial for the community, in addition to environmentally friendly because it does not emit smoke due to the use of diesel engine, it also reduce the cost of fuel which is increasingly difficult to find and less economical," Joharifin noted in a written statement.
This PLN program also supports fish farming to be more environmentally friendly in line to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).

Johari pointed out that PLN is committed to strategic projects run by the provincial government of Central Kalimantan through Kalteng Bercahaya Makin Berkah program.
Support for completing the provincial strategic program has been realized by PLN through the construction of four substation (GI), which were completed and energizedin early 2023, namely GI Kuala Pembuang, GI Sukamara, GI Nanga Bulik and GI Kuala Kurun each with a capasity of 30 MVA.
"Congratulation on the completion of the vaname shrimp pond in Sei Raja village. Hopefully it will become a lever for economic growth in coastal areas which is one of economic potential in Central Kalimantan," said Joharifin.
Deputy Governor of Central Kalimantan Edy Pratowo said that the Shrimp Estate development which was funded by the provincial budget is the only one in Indonesia, thus it need suppport from the central dan district government, partner fish farming company, universities, and local fisheries business actors to support the success of the area.
"Synergy and collaboration between stakeholders and all elements of soiety determine the success of the Shrimp Estate," said Edy marking the inauguration with the distribution of vaname shrimp seeds, Saturday (March 9, 2024).
"We hope that the development of shrimp estate can have a socio-economic impact on the community and increase regional revenue, as well as becomes a role model and trigger pon growth and development in other coastal districts," said Edy.
