Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - A total of 100 South Kalimantan Mobile Brigade (Brimob) personnel were sent to Jakarta to participate escorting massive demonstration to be held in the capital on Friday.


"A total of 100 personnel or a company-level unit (SSK) of Brimob has been dispatched, Saturday (29/10) night," said South Kalimantan Mobile Brigade Commander Kombes Pol Puji Santosa in Banjarbaru, Sunday.

According to Puji, who was accompanied the Operations section Chief AKP Wahyu Ismoyo, all personnel who represent anti-riot element will join under the control of Metro Jaya police chief who is in charge.

He explained that the personnel provided with some support equipment such as shields and tear gas canisters to dispel demonstrators if acting anarchists in the protests.

"(Our) Brimob personnel are under the command (BKO) of Metro Jaya police chief and their placement is planned in Simpang Harmoni, Central Jakarta," Operations Section Chief added.

He said the Brimob personnel were deployed in anticipation of riots in Jakarta until the scheduled date of 6 November in anticipation of demonstrations held 4 November.

"They will be in Jakarta until the date of 6 November 2016, but look at the situation as if things happen are not desired then it could be much longer," he said.

As is known, the various elements of society and organizations ready to hold a demonstration in Jakarta on 4 November 2016 demanding Governor Basuki Tjahaya Purnama or Ahok for his blasphemous statements.
