Farmers in Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan Province, have recorded a production of 22.5 tons bird's eye chili per hectare in 2023.
"The majority of types of ceyenne pepper planted by farmers are aura, ori 212, wiji tani bara and absolute 69," said Head of Food Crops and Horticulture of the Tanah Bumbu Food Security and Agriculture Office (DKPP) Robby Chandra in Batulicin, Thursday.
The planting area have been realized in 2023, he said, was 172 hectares spread acroos the Tanah Bumbu District.
155 hectares of them have produced continuously and sustainably, while the remaining 17 hectares are in the stage of growth or have not been produced yet.
Robby said that chilies are annual or long-lived plants that can live 2-3 years if maintained well and their nutritional needs are met.

To prevent crop failure and to maximize production yields, the DKPP continues to provide education and understanding to farmers regarding technical care of chili plants.
DKPP through the state budget (APBN) also distributed assistance for various chili seeds to be planted on 20 hectares area.
The office also distributed bird's eye chili seeds to be planted on five hectares area and chili on ten hectares using local budget (APBD).
Previosly, the local government launched planting chili movement program throughout Tanah Bumbu to boost chili production, meet the needs and availability of chili peppers in the community so that prices and inflations were controlled.
"We on behalf of the regional government continue to be committed to maintain food stability, especially chillies, through simultaneous chili planting program," he said.
