The South Kalimantan Green Generation carried out Clean Up New Year action in various areas in the province, one of which was in Balangan Regency.
The Green Generation Chief Coordinator for Balangan Hilma Afifah said the action was to invite young people and to provide awareness about the importance of caring for environment.
Hundreds of young people from various schools and organization attended the action.
“It is carried out at eight points in South Kalimantan simultaneously, by cleaning up environment after New Year's eve celebration,” said Hilma in Paringin, Tuesday.

Through this clean-up action, she said, it is hoped that the entire community to always keep their environment clean so as to avoid all kind of diseases.
Meanwhile, Hijah Zainab from the Board of South Kalimantan Green Generation said that “Clean Up New Year” is an action to clean up environment from various types of waste, such as plastic drink botte.
She expected that the action will be able to invite the entire young generation to jointly create a cleaner, more beautiful and more comfortable environment.
“Hopefully the participants who attend here will have more environmental awareness and always protect the environment from plastic waste and this activity would be useful for those who take part,” Hijah said.
Green Generation is an environmental based organization that focuses on preserving the environment in South Kalimantan.
