PT Adaro Indonesia supports the safe, clean, neat, and beautiful (ASRI) Martapura River program by donating 18 garbage boats. The program is being applied in 20 villages and urban villages in Banjar District as pilot project.


Department Head CSR of PT Adaro Indonesia Firmansyah said the donation is a commitment of the company to realize cleanliness and protect the environment of the Martapura River.

"This assistance is part of Adaro's social responsibility in the field of environment. Apart from trash boats, we also help with other supporting equipment," Firmansyah said in Sungai Rangas Tengah village, Banjar District, South Kalimantan, Thursday.

The donation was handed over to the Head of South Kalimantan Environment Agency (DLH) Hanifah Dwi Nirwana, who represented Governor Sahbirin Noor.

In addition, Adaro also conducted a planting of 2,000 fruit tree seedlings in areas which are the pilot project of Martapura River ASRI program.

Governor Sahbirin Noor in his remarks expressed his thanks to Adaro for its commitment to the cleanliness of Martapura River.

"This assistance show the synergy, commitment and collaboration of all parties to continue to protect the environment, especially Martapura River," said Sahbirin, who popularly known as Uncle Birin.

According to him, the ASRI program, which is supported by various partners is expected to increase awareness and concern of all elements in protecting Martapura River.

"Protecting and preserving Martapura River is like protecting the fruit trees we planted today," said the South Kalimantan Governor.

DLH head previously said, the Safe, Clean, Neat, and Beautiful Martapura River (ASRI) program so far has showed the results to encourage people get used to not throwing garbage into the river. This effort was supported by opening 12 waste banks in rural areas on the banks of Martapura River.

At the same time, she said, floating latrines along the river were eliminated, so they no longer polluted the river water.
