The Food Security and Fisheries Office (DKPP) of Barito Kuala, South Kalimantan, in collaboration with TP-PKK held Festival to Create Diverse, Nutritiously Balanced, and Safe (B2SA) Local Food Menus at Aula Selidah, Marabahan, Tuesday.

Festival committee Sudarwoso said the 2023 B2SA menu creation competition aims to increase public understanding about B2SA meal through educational promotions. 

"Processing B2SA meal for children under five is part of the target of accelerating stunting reduction in posyandu," said Sudarwoso, who is also Head of Food Security of DKPP.

Acting Chairwoman of TP-PKK Barito Kuala (Batola) Suharyanti Mujiyat, represented by Hj Elva Sestika Ridho, in her written statement noted that B2SA competition could stimulate the creativity of mothers to prepare various dishes and food with local ingredients. 

“The B2SA menu also encourage awareness of the important of providing balanced nutrition when serving food to family, especially our children," she said. 

If managed well, she added, can become source of business to increase family income.

“Providing (balanced nutrition) food is very important in supporting te formation of quality human resources," said acting Regent of Batola Mujiyat in written statement read by DKPP Secretary Noor Ria Khairatie.

When opening the festival, he said, that fulfilling food is part of individual human rights. 

The B2SA menu creation competition was attended by 17 teams from 17 sub-districts throughout Batola and each team consisted of one cadre of village posyandu and one member of sub-district TP-PKK.

From the resuts of the jury's assessment the first winner was Alalak Sub-district, second Marabahan Sub-district, and the third Tabunganen Sub-district.
