The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs/BUMN) launched the BUMN School of Excellence (BSE) as a step of transformation through improving the skills, competency, and professionalism of SOE leaders.

Deputy Minister of SOEs Kartika Wirjoatmodjo said here on Sunday that through BSE, SOEs continue to compete at the global level.

"We have a mandate to carry the Indonesian generation to the global level. This is our calling to lead Indonesia, transform the nation," Wirjoatmodjo said in a statement received here on Sunday.

According to her, leaders of state enterprises need to strengthen their skills through leadership development and sustainable business class programs.

BSE has become a permanent legal entity in the form of an association as approved by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights on August 30, 2023.

In 2021, the Ministry of SOEs formed the BUMN Leadership & Management Institute (BLMI), where Bank Mandiri was appointed as the coordinator and supported by Telkom Indonesia, Pertamina, Wijaya Karya, and FHCI.

BLMI at that time was still a work unit that designed and held human resources (HR) development and leadership programs.

In the first two years, BLMI held various leadership programs, such as Director & Commissioner Onboarding, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) School, Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) Master Class, Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO) School, and HR Directors or CHRO School.

At least 2,800 people participated in the master classes, which involved 54 facilitators, subject matter experts, and practitioners.

To ensure the presence of both global and local contexts in the programs, BSE collaborates with various strategic partners in the country and from overseas.

Chairman of BSE Agus Dwi Handaya said BSE has run various programs that support the goals of the SOEs Ministry.

Currently, there are two ongoing programs of BSE, namely CHRO School which is attended by 98 HR directors of state firms, and the BSE Business Essentials which has five batches.
