Marabahan, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Barito Kuala Government immediately programmed registration to obtain product certification for each orange plantation in the district in an effort to provide security, quality, and marketing expansion.


Head of Barito Kuala (Batola) Agriculture Agency Yadi Zulkipli Noor in Marabahan on Friday said through the certification, quality of Batola orange is expected to increase, that it can enter the modern market.

"One of the requirements for horticultural products could enter the modern market, such as Hypermart, there must be certification," he said.

Through this certification, he said, not only will improve the welfare of farmers, but will also rice the class of agricultural products. "So Batola orange will not just be sold in traditional markets or a muddy places as it is today, but the grade rises with a sale at the mall or in other more modern market," he said.

The certification, he added, was also to ensure that the Batola orange safe for consumption with good quality is guaranteed. As well as efforts to anticipate the competition entry of imported fruit into the country, along with the opening of free market, and to support the marketing of certainty, based on contracts obtained.

"Previously we have also been working to supply modern market, but is constrained on the availability of goods that must be constantly," he said.

"The farmers welcomed very nice. Some farmers already submitted to immediately obtain certification, and soon we do it gradually," he said.

Batola orange cultivation so far are very promising and proven to improve the welfare of farmers, because their orange can be grown intercropping rice plants.
