Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - South Kalimantan provincial government will build Kampung Banjar or Banjar Village in its office area in Banjarbaru to support the tourism development of this area.


Head of South Kalimantan Development Planning Board (Bappeda) Jasran in Banjarmasin on Tuesday said the development of the tourism sector will be one focus of the development forward to support the acceleration of province economic growth which position now fell from six to 27th nationwide.

According to Jasran, after the slump in in coal trade and other leading sectors, such as rubber and palm oil, its economic growth declined from the previous seven percent even more now only 3.9 percent.

"So we need new ways to build a new economic growth, in addition to the mining sector. One way is to program South Kalimantan towards national tourist destination," he said.

Some of the targets set including the increase in tourist visits nationwide that was originally at position 14 into 10 nationally. Then to build a green open space (RTH) and a zero kilometer monument, which will be equipped with a lift, so visitors will be free to see the city from a height of Banjarmasin.

A programs that is not less interesting, he said, to build Kampung Banjar, which will feature custom homes of Banjar and its social and cultural life. It is later expected to be one of the attractions for tourists to enjoy and complement the various attractions in this area.

Moreover, he added, the provincial government will also soon complete the construction of the Banua Botanical Gardens, which is now has reached 25 percent, as well as other facilities to support other tourism infrastructure.
