Acting Tapin Regent Syarifuddin said the award from the Ministry of Health increased the enthusiasm of the local government in effort to reduce stunting. "Moreover, this award was handed over by Vice President of Indonesia," he said after returning from Jakarta here, Monday.

Syarifuddin said the award was obtained for Tapin's achievements in reducing stunting rate significantly by 19 percent throughout 2022.

One of Tapin's leading programs to bring down stunting prevalence is by providing additional food to each village or urban village that is the focus location.

"We continue to provide additional food to pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, toddlers, and children who have symptoms and risk of stunting," he said.

The Tapin government continues to encourage this success to lower stunting rate to a minimum from year to year. This can be seen from the 2023 budget allocation for stunting of IDR60 billion.

Regency Regional Secretary of Tapin Sufiansyah added that the large budget was intended so that the stunting rate will meet the national target.

Sufiansyah said that currently the handling of stunting case in Tapin through each program from regional apparatus organizations is quite optimal but still need to be improved.
