Batulicin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - State Junior High School (SMPN) 4, Simpang Empat, Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan, utilizing dry leaf to be used as organic fertilizer.
"Rubbish from dry leaves around the school were collected by the students to be used as organic fertilizer by way of fermentation for a month," said the Principal of SMPN 4 Simpang Empat Marwanto through Counseling teacher Mariono in Batulicin, Wednesday.
He said the production of organic fertilizer is intended to encourage students to have more soul spirit and respect the environment by utilizing the leaf as fertilizer.
Many of dry leaf littering the school environment has been a wasted and to utilize the leaf students were equipped with training how to make organic fertilizer.
The fertilizer later used to cultivate plants that exist in the schools. The students have previously been doing the development of horticultural crops.
"As early as the students have to introduce with the benefits of organic fertilizers. Organic fertilizers are no less superior efficacy compared to chemical fertilizers," he said.
The benefits of organic fertilizers as compared to chemical fertilizers, crop yields more and more economical cost.
While this organic fertilizer is still experimental. In futureif it become as expected, it will be marketed in the farm stalls.
