The University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) in South Kalimantan has received 128 students from 69 universities in Indonesia in 2023 Merdeka student exchange program (PMM), organized by the Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry.
"The inbound students will attend lectures in 609 subjects in 11 faculties at ULM, 92 will be at Banjarmasin campus and 36 at Banjarbaru campus," said ULM Rector Professor Ahmad Alim Bachri here, Monday.
The rector expressed his gratitude and pride that ULM was the choice of many students from all over the archipelago who took part in the PMM program.
Even the initial applicants with the aim of ULM recorded 3,635 students from 389 universities, both public and private.
Until finally based on the results of the tight selection set by the ministry, 128 of the best students were selected to experience learning at ULM as the best public university in Kalimantan with A accreditation.

He said PMM is a very strategic program to instill nationalism in an effort to strengthen the value of diversity in students from Sabang to Merauke.
"The PMM program has proven to unite nation's children to continue to inflame the spirit of unity and enrich the treasures of Bhineka Tunggal Ika for the sake of the beloved NKRI which must be cared for at any time," he said.
ULM Deputy Rector for Academic Iwan Aflanie said that the inbound students will study at ULM for one semester from Agustus 21, 2023 to January 10, 2024.
In addition to providing housing, ULM received dozens of bicycles as assistance from sponsoring partners that the students can use for mobility.
"We also invite students to the unique and best places in South Kalimantan to learn the cultural customs of the local community as well as have fun traveling," he said.
It is known that at the same time ULM has send as many as 195 students to study at 54 universities in Indonesia in PMM program.
