Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - South Kalimantan government will tighten supervision of territorial waters in anticipation of the influx of fishermen from outside who exploit and undermine the potential of fish resources of the province.

South Kalimantan Governor Sahbirin Noor who directly monitoring by wandering into the waters from Trisakti Banjarmasin Port to Tabaneo till Tanah Laut said on Wednesday that the supervision is important to avoid undesirable things.

"I want to ensure that all parties can provide maximum control, so that interfishermen conflict as happened some time ago not occur again," he said.

According to the Governor, the parties that have the authority to secure the safety, naval base (Lanal), water police (Polair) and others, must improve supervision, so that the waters of this region are not only safe from crime, but also from the influx of outside fishers.

Previously, some fishermen complained that in recent months the fishermen from outside the area always go to South Kalimantan waters using vessels equipped with more sophisticated technology.

The influx of outside fishers, making an income of fishermen has fallen dramatically. which previously could reach one ton once at sea, is now less than half.

Under these conditions, not only reduces the income of farmers, but also reduce the fishing industry raw materials in some areas in South Kalimantan, such as crackers amplang and other industries.

"Our journey along the waters this time in an effort to anticipate that conflict not happen again, so that all economic activities in coastal waters can soon return to normal," he said.

A trip around the waters of the South Kalimantan, also attended by the Commander of the Banjarmasin Naval Base, commander of the provincial military (Korem) 101 Antasari, the police chief and the whole range of relevant agencies.

Governor also viewed the conditions and economic activities of fishermen hoping to give encouragement to the fishermen continue to innovate to improve their welfare, through the support of local governments, provincial and central levels.
