As many as 120 personnel of Armed Forces and National Police (TNI-Polri) hoisted a giant Indonesian flag, the Red and White, measuring 250 meters x 4 meters at the Batakan Baru Beach area in Panyipatan sub-district, Tanah Laut Regency, South Kalimantan, saturday.

"Alhamdulillah (Thank God), the hoisting of this giant flag is a symbol of pride in spirit of togetherness and spirit of independence," said South Kalimantan Regional Police Chief Inspetor General Andi Rian Djajadi who chaired the ceremony at the Batakan Baru Beach.

He said the raising of the flag was part of a series of commemorating the 75th Indonesian Independence Day on August 17, 2023 driven by TNI-Polri as the front guard in protecting the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

The process of hoisting, which was carried out jointly and in full cohesiveness, became a form of arousing the spirit of nationalism and unity.
 
The event was also became a moment to recall the struggle of the heroes who fought for Indonesia's independence and progress.

"This is a symbol that emphasizes the spirit of independence must continue to burn in every generation," said police chief.

The two-star general invited all the people in South Kalimantan to continue to maintain the spirit of independence in building a better region.

"We started the event ealier with the independence bicycle ride as far as 105 kilometers from Banjarmasin which was attended by many young people so they could continue to burn the enthusiasm of younger generation in advancing Indonesia in the future," he said.
