Tanjung, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Tabalong Health Agency found 22 cases of animal bite carrier of rabies in six locations from January to June 2016.


According to Coordinator of Prevention of Diseases Caused by Animal Bites of Tabalong Health Agency Muhammad Wahyu cases of animal bite carrier of rabies mostly found in the Sub-district of Murung Pudak.

"The results of data collection and reporting from health community centers (puskesmas) the cases mostly found in Murung Pudak with as many as 10 of the total 22 cases," said Wahyu in Tanjung, Saturday.

While in Sub-district of Tanta three cases, Upau seven cases and only one occurrence in Haruai.

Previously three positive cases of rabies found in Murung Pudak and Tanta following the discovery of many more positive number of rabies dog.

"For activities of annihilation or elimination of dogs to be carried out by the Livestock and Fisheries Agency," said Wahyu.

Meanwhile residents of Swadarma Lestari Mabuun housing complex, Sub-district of Murung Pudak, complained about the amount of stray dogs were entered residential areas.

In addition to cause fears they could carry rabies, the presence of stray dogs in the residential area quite disturbing because they often looking for food in trash bins caused waste scattered in the complex.

"We hope the stray dogs in our complex to be eliminated because they feared to spread rabies and disrupt residents' comfort," said one resident, Rina.
