Martapura, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - A total of 261 drug convicts from Karang Intan Narcotics Special Prison received remissions on the occasion of Idul Fitri 1437 Hijri.


Head of the Karang Intan Narcotics Special Prison Muhammad Hafil in Martapura on Tuesday said hundreds of inmates have been defined as remission receiver through the decree of South Kalimantan Regional Office of Law and Human Rights Ministry.

"The number of 261 prisoners are already approved as a recipient of remission, so they will have their sentences reduced to coincide Eid," he said.

Remission granted to hundreds of inmates varies between 15 days to 45 days, depending on the length of sentence already served.

Remissions given to prisoners when they are behaving on good behavior during detention in the prisons which is in the Banjar district.

"If they behave well during a period of detention and never make a mistake, they can be recommended to receive remissions in accordance to sentence have been undertaken," he said.

According to him, one of 261 remission recipient, Muhammad Ali, declared immediately free for his remission coincides with the last period of detention.

"Only one convict will directly free coincide with Eid, Muhammad Ali who received remission of one month after serving a jail term of two years," he said.

According to him, hundreds of inmates who receive remissions entirely got over five years and they have undergone a period of detention in the third term of the sentence.

"We also propose remission for inmates in PP 28 and PP 99, but to date the decree has not come out so they do not get a remission," he said.

The drug prison currently inhabited by 1,092 convicts out of a total capacity of 500 people, so that excess capacity reaches 100 percent.

"Excess capacity to reach 100 percent, because a number of occupants, either for detention or as prisoners reached 1,092 people," he said.
