Tabalong District, South Kalimantan, was named the best in performance assessment of eight stunting reduction convergence actions with a prevalence rate of 7.89 percent in 2022.
Young expert Planner of the South Kalimantan Development Planning Board (Bappeda) Theodorik Rizal Manik expressed his appreciation for the achievement of Tabalong.
"The results (of assessment) of the performance of eight convergence actions this year's reduction in stunting, Tabalong won first rangking in South Kalimantan," said Theodorik in Tanjung, Tuesaday.
Last year, Tabalong won the second place in the same performance assessment.
Tabalong Deputy Regent H Mawardi stated that this year's stunting prevalence in 'Bumi Saraba Kawa' (Tabalong's nickname) has reduces drastically compared to last year.
Based on Community-Based Electronic Nutrition Recording and Reporting (E-PPGBM) in 2019 Tabalong's stunting prevalence rate was 17.65 percent, then lowered to 11.51 percent in 2020 and in 2021 it was reduced again to 8.88 percent.
"By the end of 2022 it dropped to 7,89 percent and this year it obtain the best rating on stunting," Mawardi remarked when opening Community Movement in Stunting Reduction and Prevention Acceleration Effort (Gempur Stunting).
In this program, the Tabalong government focus on community empowerment and optimizing role of multisectors to reduce stunting rate.
Head of Tabalong Development Planning, Research and Development Agency (Bappedalitbangda) Muhammad Noor Rifani added that by 2024 the district target to reduce its stunting rate to 14 percent --in line with national target.
"I admit that the success in reducing stunting rate in Tabalong could not be separated from the support and togetherness of all parties till we finally able to get the best titile in South Kalimantan," said Rifani.
In Gempur Stunting, a joint commitment was signed by Deputy Regent H Mawardi, Regional Secretary Hj Hamida Munawarah, representatives of the South Kalimantan BKKBN, the business community, and other parties.
