South Kalimantan Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) sets up five command posts to avert forest and land fires (karhutla) at prone areas around the Syamsudin Noor International Airport in Banjarbaru City.
“After an alert status, we establish five command posts and distribute them around the main area of Syamsudin Noor Airport,” said Acting Chief Executive of South Kalimantan BPBD Bambang Dedi Mulyadi here on Friday.
The five posts put up not only because of an alert status, it was also due to fires in Tanah Laut that hit more than 10 hectares of land.
“In one of the most widespread od fire incident occurred yesterday in Tanah Laut hit around 10 hectares,” he said.
However, Bambang said that Banjarbaru City is still considered to be the most fire-prone areas.
The five posts to be established soon are two in Banjarbaru City, and each one in Banjar District, Tanah Laut District, and Barito Kuala District.
According to Bambang, the four city and districts are the areas surrounding ring one (fire-prone), Syamsudin Noor Airport.
The agency keeps increasing supervision of fires in prone areas, especially around the airport.
The BPBD has considered Banjarbaru as fir-prone with a record of 30 percent fires of the total 42 hectares of fires in 13 districtis and cities in South Kalimantan.
He emphasized that South Kalimantan BPBD keeps coordinating with the district and city BPBD in the handling of forest and land fires.
He said, after all information is obtained, the team who is on guard for 1x24 hours takes the main role of forwwarding the information to the team to go into the field.
Meanwhile, Manager of the Operation Control Center (Pusdalops) Ricky Ferdyanto said that his party continues to monitor the area of land affected by fires.
“As directed by leadership, there are five comand posts to be built to increase supervision of karhutla,” said Ricky.
He said that the information received by Pusdalops is immediately spreaded to the patrol team at all points in South Kalimantan.
