Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Some farmers in Kotabaru district to begin cultivating organic brown rice.


A farmer from South Kelumpang, Abu Bakr in Kotabaru on Saturday said that until now red rice circulating in Kotabaru markets sent from outside the area.

"Looking at market share, brown rice cultivation is quite tempting because it has economic value much higher than plain rice," he said.

Abu Bakr admitted to the present farm shops in Kotabaru are still not selling brown rice seeds yet.

"We had booked the red rice seeds from Lamongan, East Java," said the farmer whose origin from Lamongan.

The plan, red rice paddy land will be planted in semi-wet and dry, not too low and not too high.

Ummi Desi Ratnasari, a consumer, said her family bought Rp120,000 for brown rice weighing about three kilograms.

In addition to expensive, people are sometimes difficult to buy brown rice, especially those whose diet to eat plain rice, because of high blood sugar.

According to some traders, consumers who buy brown rice are mostly those who diet of plain rice, because of high blood sugar.
