Pelaihari, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - A representative of World Bank conducted a survey related to supply of clean water or Survey Project for the National Urban Water Supply (Nuwas) in Tanah Laut, South Kalimantan.


"This Nuwas is a program of the central government through the Directorate of Water Development of Ministry of Public Works in collaboration with the World Bank in order to improve access to drinking water services in urban areas of Indonesia," said Vice Regent H Sukamta in Pelaihari, Monday.

The World Bank's presence in the Tanah Laut represented by Risyana Sukarma and received by Vice Regent H Sukamta.

The meeting was attended by Director of government owned water company PDAM Eko Sugihanto, Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), Economy and Investment Division, and Public Works officials.

The program which is planned only for 200 local governments or taps companies in Indonesia, he explained, is expected to increase access to piped drinking water, improve the performance of PDAM and support the right and effective investments.

He said his government welcomed the attention of the central government on the program. Especially, the local government is currently focused on development in terms of satisfying the needs of clean water.

The need for clean water in Tanah Laut, he said, is a strategic factor that the affects very spacious.
