Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalimantan) - Millions of rupiah circulates per day in the final disposal of waste in Basirih, said Head of the Banjarmasin Sanitation and Gardening Agency (DKP) Muhyar.
"Every day there always trading activities of garbage sorted and choose from landfill Basirih, which include plastics and other wasted goods," he told AntaranewsKalsel here on Wednesday
"Many residents earn income in the landfill Basirih for their family life," he said on the sidelines of assessment by the 2016 Adipura Monitoring Team at TPA (landfill).
According to him, residents who pursue jobs by sorting and selecting waste in the landfill at first only a few, but now in tens and even more than a hundred.
"We have never figure those who do the job. In the meantime what important for us they do not make a fuss and keep the landfill assets," he said.
Meanwhile, TPA officers process wet waste into compost or organic fertilizer, which every day reached a quintal (100 kilograms). Addition to DKP utilization, it also sold to those who need.
