The joint team had evacuated victims of a gold mine landslide in Buluh Village, Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan Province. The disaster claimed six people died.

"Of 11 victims have been evacuated, six of them dead, and five others are injured," said acting Head of the Kotabaru Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Hendra here on Tuesday.

He expounded that all injured victims were being under treatment at the nearest puskesmas (a community health center).

Meanwhile, the joint team of the Kotabaru BPBD, Satpol PP (Public Order Security Agency), TNI (Armed Forces), Polri (Police), and volunteers were still searching for other victims of the landslide which was triggered by high intensity of rain.

He predicted the number of victims of the gold mine landslide in Buluh Kuning Village, Sungai Durian Sub-district, Kotabaru, as many as 15.

Landlides had occurred several times in South Kalimantan this year. Previously this month the landslide hit Mangunang Seberang Village, Haruyan Sub-district, and Pasting Village, Hantakan Sub-district, in Central Hulu Sungai (HST) District. 

In the same month, a landslide hit a provincial road between the sub-district of Paringin and Juai Sub-district in Balangan District, after a few days of rain.

In July, a ladslide also happened to a road in Bintang Ara Village, Bintang Ara Sub-district, in Tabalong District, which was said to be related to coal mining.
