The Regent of Kotabaru Sayed Jafar symbolically handed over decrees of the 77th Independence Day remission to the inmates of the Kotabaru Penitentiary.

A total of 568 inmates in the district were granted remission on consideration they were deemed eligible for it.

“We congratulate our children who have received remission, including 11 of them who are released immediately. Go meet your parents soon, tell them everything about your life,” Sayed Jafar remarked as reported on Wednesday.

The regent appreciated Head of Kotabaru Penitentiary Yosef Benyamin Yembise for his performance and dedication in leading the prison.

He hopes his leadership to bring change in the penitentiary, and could maintain a good communication with the district government they both have built to give a better service for the inmates.

Yosef Benyamin Yembise said that the remission was a reward for the inmates who have been following the guidance program well.

“Kotabaru Penitentiary always committed to implementing trus. We as coaches for the inmates, and they are all our children without exception. We implement guidance program both personality as well as self-development,” he expounded.

The 568 inmates who received remission, he said, were those who met the requirements, both administrative and substantive conditions. They received 1 to 6 months remission, and 11 of them were released immediately.

“In addition to give guidance, we are also committed to providing service for the inmates, including through the Inmates Greeting Movement, the Inmates Empowement Movement, and the Inmates Saving Movement in collaboration with stakeholders with an extraordinary support from the Kotabaru District Government,” Yosef explained.

After the Independence Day's remission ceremony, the regent and entourage reviewed craft products produced by the inmates. He immediately bought all the products as a form of his support to the Kotabaru Penitentiary.
