Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Head of Banjarmasin Social Affairs and Labor Agency Agus Surono said shelter for people with psychiatric disorders in Banjarmasin always full.


"People with psychiatric disorders always there. We do not know where they came from and all are accommodated," he said at City Hall, Tuesday.

So far psychotic people accommodated in the shelter at Jalan Basirih exceed 30, even some of them have been staying quite a long time.

"Some were already out, then in again, so the shelter house is never lonely," he said.

According to him, the shelter is never empty from people affected by mental disorders, as many families are not ready to accept. Even some are with unknown identity.

"So we sometimes do not know how long they will be there. We just seek to how they can be accommodated, not abandoned in the streets," said Agus.

According to him, the institution will strive to continue to do the best for people who have psychiatric disorders. After all they are human beings who need help with a good to be back in the community.

"I am personally very much appreciate the shelter's undertakers, for their incredible dedication in terms of humanity. Others may not be able to do that," he said.

Agus said the agency is also working with the Sambang Lihum Mental Hospital. When shelter excesses capacity, they would be sent there for ongoing treatment, because the hospital has a very complete treatment.
