Balangan, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - PT Adaro Indonesia in Balangan, South Kalimantan, has programmed provision of solar-powered lamp with a value of Rp90 million in rural areas who do not have electricity.


CSR Department Head of PT Adaro Indonesia Idham Kurniawan in Paringin on Friday said the provision of street lighting to support the activities of people at night.

"The program that we conducted in Bayu Hamlet, Paringin Kota village, District Paringin, only six public street lamp and solar-powered lights hoping to help people move at night," he said.

In addition, continued Idham Kurniawan, lighting is also beneficial to improve the security and safety of citizens of Dusun (hamlet) Bayu.

"Street lighting can automatically increase the safety and security of citizens while on the move at night, because the main roads they use has a lot of damaged and hollows," he explained.

For decades, Dusun Bayu consisting of 39 heads of families untouched by electricity. According to Hamsun, Lasung Batu village head, he has sought the electricity installations in Dusun Bayu. However, access into the village is distant and hard, plus the number of families only 39 did not qualify the state electricity company (PLN) for the installation of electrical connections.

"To get around the state, some residents bought generators for home lighting, but certainly its operational costs is not little. To turn on the generator for approximately three hours it takes one liter of fuel. Not to mention if the generator is damaged, the cost of treatment can swell," he explained.
