Batulicin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Tanah Bumbu, through Food Crops and Livestock Agency, become a pilot district in South Kalimantan for successfully implementing the program of Bullying Sexual Arousal and Artificial Insemination (GB-IB) in cattle.


Head of Food Crops and Livestock Abdul Karim in Batulicin said on Wednesday, Tanah Bumbu successfully implement the GB-IB program and become the first in South Kalimantan successfully implement the program.

"Knowing the success, the team from the Ministry came to Tanah Bumbu to see the success of the GB-IB program in South Kalimantan," he said.

The Ministry of Agriculture through the Directorate General of Livestock implement the GB-IB program and Tanah Bumbu is part of the program.

According to him, the GB-IB is the process of accelerating the increase in livestock production by implementing lust snapping, that is how to speed up the cattle estrus one of which by giving hormone injections.

"Usually the local people call it by the name of mating injection (kawin suntik) to speed up the process of insemination of cattle," he said.

The achievement of the successful of the GB-IB has been the implementation of about 70 percent of a given target.

"Snapping lust can be performed on all types of cattle, and in the process of implementation of the GB-IB Tanah Bumbu in cooperation with the Provincial Government of South Kalimantan," he said.

Until now, the realization of the GB-IB in period of 2015 was 1,500 cows or about 75 percent of as many as 2,000 heads of the marry by injection target.

Meanwhile, the cattle population in 110 villages in the district of Tanah Bumbu in 2015 as many as 21,192 heads.
