Amuntai, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Vocational School (SMK) 2 Amuntai in North Hulu Sungai is lucky because the local government has spent a budget of about Rp1.5 billion to prepare this school to win the 2015 National Adiwiyata.


"As soon as the SMK 2 get a chance to be proposed as Adiwiyata School at the national level, local government helps complete the facility and tools which have a combined budget of about Rp1.5 billion," said the Head of the North Hulu Sungai Office of Environment Management (KPLH)  Johan Hermani here on Friday.

Hermani said Adiwiyata assistance to the school as a form of attention and concern of local governments who want to improve the quality of education.

He acknowledged that the budget should be expended is quite large, but the benefits to be gained from this Adiwiyata School for the future is also very large.

Adiwiyata school, said Hermani, in addition to rising prestige become popular schools for parents to send their children, also became a model for other schools to improve school quality like Adiwiyata.

"From Adiwiyata school  we expect birth of a generation that cares and loves the environment and hygiene, they are also taught how to use garbage and waste," tuturnya`

In fact, he continued, the Adiwiyata school always required to improve the quality of education if it wants to improve the status to a higher level from the district, provincial, national, till the ASEAN level.

Hermani pointed out, the only institution in South Kalimantan has reached the level of ASEAN Adiwiyata is SMP 4 Martapura in Banjar district, where teachers and students are proficient in English.
