Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Kotabaru Environment Agency (BLHD) is still awaiting the results of laboratory examination on the crude palm oil industrial waste water in Kelumpang Hulu.


"Lab results is expected no later than 10 days," the official BLHD Kotabaru Fadel said via cellphone here Saturday.

Earlier, Director of government owned water company PDAM Kotabaru H Nor Ipansyah said it was forced to halt the distribution of water to customers in the sub-district of Kelumpang Hulu.

"We were forced to stop distribution of water to customers, having witnessed that the raw water source contaminated with black and foul smelling of industrial waste allegedly hit by CPO company," he explained.

Ipansyah said when coming to the location, his team noticed immediately that the raw water intake point Sub-District  Installation (IKK) Cantung, exposed to the flow of black and smelly water from a reservoir containing waste water, which may come from sewage treatment of the company.

"The distance between the point of taking raw water IKK Cantung and reservoir approximately 281 meters. The reservoir itself is about 5.4 kilometers from the company," he explained.

Director of PDAM Kotabaru worries about the water obtained from the point that hit by the waste, then it need Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) tests.
