Banjarmasin (South Kalimantan Antaranews) - The Banjarmasin government-owned tap water company PDAM Bandarmasih has long been producing ready to drink water.


It's just that to develop a broader, taps facing obstacles, especially the construction of a large pipeline that would cost a lot, said Managing Director (CEO) of PDAM Bandarmasih Ir H Musleh said here to AntaranewsKalsel, Tuesday.

"Although there are obstacles, but in the future the piping system for ready to drink water without boiling will continue to be developed," he said.

One example of ready to drink water produced by PDAM Bandarmasih is existing faucet taps Bandarmasih near the company's office, Jalan A Yani Banjarmasin km3.

But to flow it to all the houses, he could not give a guarantee. "Indeed, we are desirous of production ready to drink water directly to costumers houses. But it seems not possible, due to various factors," he said.

One of which is using a special installation that resists contamination and it requires a high cost, which in turn impact on the rate increase, which may not affordable to all level of community.

PDAM Bandarmasih plans to build a drinking water faucet to schools first. In addition to helping students obtain drinking water, it is to educate children to love water, so as to preserve the river and its water resources.
