Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Banjarmasin City Government wants to replicate Surabaya in environmental management to be beautifully clean, shady and beautiful.
To achieve that, the officials from Sanitation and Gardening Agency, General Affairs, the Transportation Agency, a number of journalists and the liaison staff led by the Head of the Environment Agency (BLHD) Hamdi visited Surabaya, said the Head of Public Relations Kurnadiansyah on Sunday.
The two-day visit ended on Saturday (7/11) by reviewing the residential complex of the village of Gundih, Bubuhan Sub-district which won the "Green and Clean" competition.
The delegation was welcomed by village officials and cadres ofenvironment. Here told it was a long struggle to motivate people, till they aware and willing to create an environment that is clean, beautiful, lush, and healthy.
The environment become example in Surabaya, for successfully managing waste through waste banks to provide additional income for citizens, and successfully managing waste water through a filtration system to be used for bathing, washing and watering the plants.
Then the local people through training several times also managed to turn organic waste into compost to be used to fertilize a variety of ornamental plants, plant greening, and even compost into merchandise.
Hamdi said it is not difficult to create the similar things for Banjarmasin city, as long as community and the government shared commitment to make it happen.
