To anticipate a surge in COVID-19 cases, especially the spread of Omicron infections, Kudus government has begun to prepare Bakalan Krapyak rental flats as a centralized isolation site.
"We have noticed that the trend of COVID-19 cases in our area is starting to rise, so it is necessary to immediately prepare an isolation site. If it was prepared at the former midwifery school building, then it will also be prepared in the flat," Head of Kudus District Hartopo informed here on Monday.
He said he expected the recruitment of health workers to be conducted soon because there was an overwhelming lack of health workers during the previous spike in cases, so volunteers had to pitch in.

The isolation center would need to have staff or officers, both health workers and other personnel, he added. People who are confirmed positive for COVID-19 and are asymptomatic will be immediately transferred to the center, he disclosed.
He said he had also instructed all hospitals in Kudus district to prepare isolation rooms for COVID-19 patients, especially ICU beds. In addition, they have been asked to prepare stocks of medicines, including personal protective equipment (PPE) for health workers and oxygen, he added.
He then asked people to anticipate the possibility of a rise in cases and support prevention efforts by complying with the health protocols.

The Kudus district government has also asked the sub-district head and the District Communication Forum to assist each other to boost the vaccination rate among the elderly who are prone to contracting the coronavirus, Hartopo said.
There will be stricter monitoring and restrictions in the region soon, he informed. The number of visits to tourist attractions will also be limited, he said.
"As for face-to-face learning, we will first coordinate with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, (to see) whether learning should be set at 50 percent student capacity or online," he added.
He highlighted that some schools are also still facing issues, especially regarding the number of task force personnel, which does not meet with the number requested in their applications for 100-percent face-to-face learning permits.
