To save Loksado, the government of South Hulu Sungai (HSS) District through the Public Housing, Settlement, and Environment Agency (Dispera KPLH) will plant one thousand tree seedling.

Head of the agency Ronaldy P Putra in Hulu Banyu Village on Monday (January 24, 2022) said that the whole community should work together to save the nature, and not to cut down trees along the riverbanks as well as hillsides.

"So far, we have prepared 1,000 tree seedlings and we will plant them in stages," he said.

The points of planting have been mapped. There are six areas to be plated. The trees are of fruit types according to the request of the local community.

HSS government program of planting trees along the riverbank and bare lands due to landslides occurred in Loksado some time ago.

"It is hoped that these places are safe for the community, especially in Loksado Sub-district," he said.

The Regional Secretary of HSS H M Noor said that this is part of reforestation of vacant or bare land considering of extreme weather, landslides, that had caused losses for the community.

“We are grateful that this activity is assisted by the South Kalimantan Forestry Agency. They will continue this program by involving the local people by providing subsidy in the form of tree seedlings and operational cost,” he said.
