Governor of South Kalimantan H Sahbirin Noor handed over 112 thousand vials of vaccine to vaccinate children aged 6-11 years to the government of Tanah Bumbu and Tapin.

The Governor, who is familiarly called Uncle Birin, symbolically handed over the vaccine on Friday night (14/1) at the pharmacy warehouse of the South Kalimantan Health Agency in Landasan Ulin, Banjarbaru, and was received by representatives of the Tanah Bumbu and Tapin District Governments.

The governor thanked President Joko Widodo for sending vaccines to South Kalimantan.

"We thank the President who has sent the vaccine, the presence of the state is to protect its people," he said.

Uncle Birin requested that the district and city governments, which have received vaccines for children, immediately move to vaccinate. "As directed by the President, as soon as the vaccine arrives, use it up," he said.

According to him, it is important to vaccinate children to support their safe and security for the implementation of direct learning in schools properly.

"Today our children need face-to-face learning, so we must protect them," said Uncle Birin.

Head of the South Kalimantan Health Office H Muslim said that the arrival of the vaccine will take place in stages.
"This time the number is 112,760 vials, later they will come again," he said.

According to him, to accelerate the vaccination of children aged 6-11 years, 440,000 Sinovac vaccines are needed. He hopes that this need can be realized as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, representatives from the Tanah Bumbu Health Agency Arditya Ari thanked for the allocation of Sinovac vaccine he received.

He said that Tanah Bumbu Health Office would immediately coordinate with the Police, TNI, and the Education Office, regarding the technical implementation of vaccinations according to the targets that have been set.
