South Kalimantan Governor Dr (HC) H Sahbirin Noor asked regents and mayors to expedite the achievement of COVID-19 vaccination to 80 percent for the provincial level by the end of the year.
"From the report to me, the achievement of COVID-19 vaccination in our province is around 69 percent," he said at the launch of TEMAN BUS from the Ministry of Transportation for mass transportation in the Banjarbakula area (Banjar, Banjarbaru, Banjarmasin, Tanah Laut, and Barito Kuala) in Banjar District, Wednesday.
Uncle Birin, the governor's nickname, urged the regional heads of the 13 districts and cities to enhance the vaccination within 11 days remaining to the end of the year.
"We have made extraordinary moves so far, continue to increase it, until the target of establishing herd immunity can be achieved by the end of the year," he said.
Overall, South Kalimantan has a target of 3.16 million people to vaccinate.

Governor gave his appreciation to the National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri) who have contributed significantly to the improvement of the vaccination program. "Currently the case of COVID-19 has been very sloping, continue to maintain it," he pointed out.
He also asked not to slow down in the discipline of health protocols, especially when facing NYE holidays. "We have to increase our vigilance, especially now that the Omicron variant begins to spread, hopefully, it does not enter our area," he said.
The South Kalimantan Health Office reported that today there was one additional case of COVID-19 in Banjarmasin bringing the total case in the province to 69,946, now 9 are under treatment, two have just recovered, one from Banjarmasin and one from Katabaru, making the total recoveries to 67.546 people, while the death toll is 2,391 people.
