After a coordination meeting for flood emergency response, the Head of Central Hulu Sungai (HST) District together with the PUPR Agency observed the flood canal in Murung A Village, Batu Benawa Sub-district, Monday (29/11).
He saw the water condition in the canal, which was built to stem the threat of flooding, was already shallow. Here, the Regent asked the PUPR agency to coordinate with the River Management Agency to dredge the canal bottom again.
According to him, the shallow bottom of the canal blocked the flow of the river, causing the City of Barabai to flood.
The observation continued to the canal door, the Regent saw that there was a lot of sediment here and it was not fully opened.

He pointed out that the canal door is not fully opened to facilitate the dredging that is being carried out by the River Agency along the canal. However, this has resulted in the water flow of the river was not optimal.
Seeing this condition, the Regent immediately ordered the Batu Benawa Sub-district head together with the local community and the River Agency to immediately dredge the sediment at the front of the canal door and to open the canal door as much as possible.
