Banjarmasin City Police Chief Senior Commissioner (Kombes) Rachmat Hendrawan confirmed that disaster mitigation has been maximized to deal with the threat of flood due to the recent high rainfall.
"Bhabinkamtibmas and Babinsa have given massive appeal to residents in areas prone to inundation," he said in Banjarmasin, Thursday.
Rachmat acknowledged that the major flood in last January 2021 was a lesson to all parties so as not to happen again. At least to reduce the risks and impacts caused by disasters.
"If people really have to evacuate then we do it immediately, there should be no casualties and so on," he pointed out.

He stated that all equipment and facilities for flood disaster mitigation have been prepared by TNI-Polri as well as the city government and relevant agencies.
Emergency tents, field kitchens, and rubber boats are all on standby to be used whenever needed, including assigned personnel assisted by a team of volunteers.
Responding to the increasing rainfall and the widespread inundation in the city due to high tide, the city police conducted a preparedness ceremony to follow up the instruction of South Kalimantan Provincial Police Chief Insp. Gen. Rikwanto for the preparedness of all resort police to deal with disasters in the rainy season.
