The Kotabaru Naval Base has given COVID-19 vaccine shot to maritime communities in the second phase vaccination to help local government in handling the pandemic.

"Now we provide vaccination at the Kotabaru Naval Base's Health Center on Jalan KRI Yos Sudarso, Stagen Village, Pulau Laut Utara Sub-district," said the Commander of Kotabaru Naval Base Marine Lt. Col. (P) Sadarianto here on Tuesday.

He said this is the effort of the Navy to prevent and minimize the possible spike of COVID-19 cases, especially in Kotabaru.

Through what so-called as a maritime vaccination raid program, the Navy synergized with the local government in accelerating vaccination. The target is Kotabaru toward a green zone and free from the pandemic.

"We use Sinovac vaccine which is supplied by the Kotabaru Health Office, while the health workers are supported by Kotabaru Naval Base Health Center," he said.

He hopes it will help to fulfill the target of vaccination coverage, while the Navy continues to appeal to the public not to slow down in applying health protocols to protect themselves from the virus.

One of the residents who participate in the vaccination, Rahman thanked the committee for carrying out the vaccination.

"We really appreciate the activities carried out by the Navy. This is the umpteenth time they have conducted vaccination for the community for free," he said.
