Martapura, South Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalimantan) - Director of Emergency of National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Junjungan Tambunan said that South Kalimantan now in alert status of forest and land fires.


"South Kalimantan is one of several provinces in Indonesia in emergency status of forest fire," he said in Martapura Tuesday.

The presence of one of the BNPB official here to attend the muster control of land and forest fires in South Kalimantan Province held in Ratu Zalecha Square, Martapura.

According to him, the extreme conditions due to the strong El Nino causing scorching heat and drought, so easily lead to hot spots causes of forest and land fires.

"These conditions must be addressed by all parties, especially BPBDs both the provincial, district, and city, through preparedness personnel and equipment," he said.

According to him, the whole provinces have established the post of forest fire prevention such as the Province of Central Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, Riau, Jambi including South Kalimantan.

In addition, some provinces install posts to anticipate drought such as East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), West Nusa Tenggara, Central Java, East Java, including West Java.

"Integrated Command Post prepared aims to anticipate all possibilities from forest and land fires including the impact of drought," he said.
