The high enthusiasm of participants to take part in the Tour de Barito Kuala (TdB), South Kalimantan, forced the committee to close the registration early.
Currently, 922 participants have registered both through the website or directly, while the committee's target is only1,000 participants or 50 percent of the field capacity of the Barito Kuala (Batola) government which reaches 2,000 participants.
“We as the committee apologize to the people who have not had time to register. We are doing this in order to repress the spread of COVID-19 in Batola,” said Committee Chair Hery Sasmita, after the preparatory meeting for Tour de Barito Kuala, Thursday morning.
Hery, who is also Head of the Protocol and Communication of the district, explained that currently, Batola is at level 2 of public activity restriction (PPKM), so the capacity is limited to only 50 percent or only 1,000 participants with details, 250 for a road bike (RB) and 750 for mountain bike (MTB).
Thus, he said, the chance for participants has left only 78 slots for MTB.
Meanwhile, the District Secretary of Batola H Zulkipli Yadi Noor emphasized that the implementation of the national scale TdB must be successful and strived to be as perfect as possible, although it does not rule out strict health protocols.
“Many participants from outside, such as Jakarta to Pekanbaru, so this event must run optimally because it is not only a sport but a promotional event for Batola,” he said.
