The Banjar District Government is very concerned in dealing with stunting (a condition of failure to grow normally in children under five years old due to malnutrition).
"Banjar Regent Saidi Mansyur and the Chairwoman of Banjar TP PKK Nur Gita Tiyas are very concern about dealing with stunting," said Head of PPKBP3A Agency Siti Hamidah in Martapura, Thursday.
The day before, she accompanied a delegation from the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK) to visit a stunted child in Bawahan Selatan Village, Mataraman Sub-district.
She said that the Population Control, Family Planning, Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPKBP3A) Agency had carried out a stunting prevention program.
The stunting handling program carried out includes reproductive health counseling, prevention of early marriage, and prevention of stunting in collaboration with cross-sectors.
"The visit of the delegation of the Kemenko PMK becomes an encouragement for us in our effort to prevent stunting and is expected to reduce stunting rate more quickly," she said enthusiastically.

Consultant Expert Staff for Sustainable Development at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture Tin Herawati visited Banjar District accompanied by Head of South Kalimantan BKKBN Ramlan and Head Banjar PPKBP3A Agency Siti Hamidah to see children with stunting.
Ramlan said that South Kalimantan is in the 10 highest stunting in Indonesia with a percentage of 31.75 percent based on survey data from the Indonesian Toodler Nutritional Status Study.
"The rate in Banjar District is 36.87 percent or in the middle position of the 13 districts and cities in South Kalimantan. The highest is Balangan 52.10 percent, Tabalong 44 percent, and South Hulu Sungai 42 percent," he said.
