The Navy has established Tabanio Village, Takisung sub-district, Tanah Laut, South Kalimantan, as Nusantara Maritime Village (Kampung Bahari Nusantara/KBN) by lauching a number of program to improve the welfare of the local community.

"Tabanio Village has long been fostered by Banjarmasin Naval Base and as it was planned it is established as Kampung Bahari Nusantara," said the Naval Base Commander Marine Colonel (P) Herbiyantoko, M.Tr. Hanla in Banjarmasin, Sunday.

One of the programs currently being carried in Tabanio Village was social service. Other activities are building places of worship, renovating schools, repairing roads, and making MCKs (bathing, washing, and toilet).

These social actions were expected to ease the task of the government and provide the greatest benefit for the prosperity of the local people.

Especially the construction of education facilities, he said, it was a form of concern and support for the government programs in building the intellectual life of the nation.

He expounded that the Navy's efforts to empower the coastal community in order the results of marine economic potential can be utilized optimally to improve their welfare.

Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, he said, the maritime economic sector is expected to keep running to support the national economic recovery through increasing reliable and resilient human resources.

"In accordance to the order of Navy Chief of Staff (KSAL) Admiral Yudo Margono, we continue to carry out vaccination to build herd immunity for maritime sector community and coastal residents," said Herbiyantoko.
