PT Antang Gunung Meratus (AGM) received a Sustainable Development Goals Awards (ISDA) 2021 for its contribution in achieving one of the sustainable development goals, namely the community-based conservation of endangered flora and fauna on land (SDGs 15.7).

The platinum category award received in Jakarta, Friday (Sept 17, 2021) was the fruit of PT AGM's proboscis monkey (bekantan) ecotourism program with the Tapin District Government, the Bekantan Research Group (KPB) of the Wildlife Ecology Laboratory, the Bogor Institute of Agriculture, and the community in Lawahan Village, South Kalimantan.

“ISDA 2021 organized by the Corporate Forum for Community Development (CFCD) in cooperation with the National Development Planning Ministry/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas),” said Dep Head CSR of PT AGM Syamsul, Sunday.

The bekantan habitat conservation effort in the swamp ecosystem in Lawahan Village had also received an award from the Governor of South Kalimantan in 2020 with a predicate of Proper Green Area for PT AGM.

Syamsul told that the bekantan habitat on 90 hectares of land managed by PT AGM was engulfed by wildfire in 2014 and 2015. PT AGM with its contribution made efforts to restore the original habitat of the bekantan with the aim of preserving the endangered animal.

“To be able to support its sustainability PT AGM also built ecotourism infrastructure which is managed together with the Tapin government and the local community,” he said.
