The santris or the students of the Islamic Boarding School of (pesantren) Assunniyyah in Tapin District, South Kalimantan, got their first jab of Sinovac vaccine.

"About 1,300 vaccines were administered to the pesantren which consisted of MTs (junior high school), MA (high school), tarbiyah (college), and communities around the pesantren. Today about 85 percent of them have received," said Head of Health Agency Alfian Yusuf, Monday.

The simultaneous vaccination which was held in the synergy of the National Police (Polri) and special staff of the President will last until September 7. 

"To date, 800 doses of vaccine have been administered in pesantren," he said. 

The Assunniyyah Islamic Boarding School is one of five pesantren in South Kalimantan that organized simultaneous vaccination in Indonesia.
