South Hulu Sungai (HSS) Police together with the district government and the TNI carried out the planting of one million trees in the Al Baladul Amin Islamic Boarding School as part of the 2021 South Kalimantan Police greening program.
HSS Police Chief AKBP Sugeng Priyanto in Telaga Langsat, Friday (August 20) said that in The Global Risk Report 2019 at the World Economic Forum it was stated that climate change occupied the top position as the cause of the global disaster.
"Such as natural disaster, extreme weather, food and clean water crisis, loss of biodiversity, and the collapse of the ecosystem around the world," he said conveying the remarks of South Kalimantan Police Chief.
It is still in our mind that in early 2021 a number of regions in Indonesia, including South Kalimantan, major floods occurred with very large impacts.
Seeing the impact, the central and local governments keep trying to save the natural condition from damage. One of which is through reforestation by planting trees.
The movement is certainly not commensurate with the extent of the environmental damage that has occurred, but this effort is very valuable if carried out consistently and seriously.
"Every tree planted can live, thrives, and benefits all," he said.
Deputy Regent Syamsuri Arsyad said in addition to the ongoing pandemic, another problem that we faced is climate change which is quite extreme.
According to him, this activity is ceremonial to plant trees, but the spirit can become the lifestyle for HSS residents to plant and maintain trees as greenery.
In terms of regulation, HSS has already local regulation that a resident who builds a building is required to plant trees around the house.
The planting of one million trees was attended by Head of HSS Prosecutor's Office Agus Rujito, Head of Kandangan Religious Court Hikmah, Head of Dispera KPLH Ronaldy P Putra, S.STP, Head of Telaga Langsat Sub-district Sar Ipansyah, and the Caregiver of the Islamic Boarding School.
