The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) provided one thousand virtual vocational training aids as part of a digital training program for millennials to mark the 74th Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Day on Thursday.

BMKG chief Dwikorita Karnawati said the commemoration program was held online, in accordance with the government’s instruction to reduce outdoor activities to curb COVID-19 transmission.

“People have (faced) a hard situation due to the pandemic. This (digital training) program aims to give practical skills to young millennials so they can explore more business opportunities and earn an income,” she explained.

The digital training can be accessed from any region of Indonesia, Karnawati said. Participants only need to register through the link or barcode provided by BMKG, she added.

The aids will be disbursed through five BMKG Centers -- BMKG Center Regional I in Medan, North Sumatra; BMKG Center Regional II in South Tangerang, Banten; BMKG Center Regional III in Badung, Bali; BMKG Center Regional IV in Makassar, South Sulawesi; as well as BMKG Center Regional V in Jayapura, Papua, she informed.

Participants will get e-certificates after completing training, the BMKG chief said.

Farid Subkhan, CEO of Citiasia Inc, will conduct the 120-minute ‘Successful Social Media Marketing’ module and the 428-minute ‘How to be A Successful Entrepreneur’ course, she informed.

Meanwhile, the 120-minute ‘Guidance on Editing Video using Smartphone’ and ‘Tips to be A Youtuber’ modules will be conducted by Ali Sanjani, a practitioner in the subjects, she added.

“This program is our (BMKG’s) real contribution in creating an active, creative and skilled young generation for Indonesia,” she remarked.
